Using Formulas

Enter a Formula

A formula is any value that starts with =.

You can enter formulas:

• In the formula bar, or
• Directly in a cell (inline edit mode)

After you commit, Comma computes the value and stores the formula definition separately.

Formula Persistence

Formulas are saved in a companion file next to your CSV/TSV:

your-file.csv.comma.json

This lets Comma keep formulas even though the underlying data file is plain text.
